K8GP

K8GP is the call sign of the Grid Pirates Contest Group and Delmarva VHF and Microwave Society. It is a small, but dedicated group of individuals interested in contesting and the frequencies above 50 MHz. The group concentrates on operating the ARRL sponsored June and September VHF contests from high atop Spruce Knob, WV, grid square FM08fq. I’m proud to have assisted building, operating and documenting the station and its operation over the past 10 years. Through the use of my pictures, videos and writing skills I have developed and currently maintain their online web presence. The web site can be seen by clicking on the following link www.k8gp.net or any of the pictures below.

You can also download a PowerPoint slide show I created and presented in Jan 2010. The 80MB file can be downloaded here.

Recently I’ve been playing with the Google Maps API. Below is a Google Map showing the various grid squares contacted from K8GP in the June 2009 VHF contest on all frequency bands from 50 through 432 MHz. Drag the map left, right, up or down, zoom in or out and click on a grid to see how many and which stations we contacted there. Click on the View Larger Map to see a complete list of the grid squares and the station call signs of the individuals we contacted there.
